Now that the mystery of who actually ran down Sarah on Days of Our Lives has been solved and the appropriate persons punished accordingly set free, it’s time to say goodbye to not just one, but two Salemites.
On Monday’s episode, after Melinda managed to scare EJ into dropping the charges against her client Fiona did the smart thing and high-tailed it out of dodge, leaving Salem and heading back home. It was a smart move, seeing as how Xander tried to murder the last person he thought hit Sarah. And while we’re not entirely sure Xander would really try to kill his own mother, it’s probably best not to tempt him to find out.
But while Fiona had a few parting words with Sarah, she couldn’t quite make herself face her son. She did, however, write him a farewell note, not quite apologizing directly, but coming close enough.
In the letter, she said she wishes she could someday change for real and earn Xander’s forgiveness, and that she truly does love him. And while Fiona getting off without even a slap on the wrist was unexpected, it does open up the possibility of Serena Scott Thomas bringing her character back someday.
In fact, between avoiding prison and writing a heartfelt almost apology to Xander, the show very much set her up for a return someday. But after all the pain (and near-murders) she caused, we’ve got a feeling that it’ll take more than time to get back into her son’s good graces.
But she’s not the only one heading out of town, as Eric also said goodbye to Brady today, after helping clear his step-brother’s name in Sarah’s hit-and-run. We knew when Eric came home that his return wouldn’t be permanent and now, he’s back off to Paris to be with Nicole and Jude. With that said, spoilers have Holly forgiving her surrogate dad in Tuesday’s episode, so we can expect to see him at least one more time before he goes.
And while that would seem to be it for now, we’d be downright shocked if Greg Vaughan didn’t bring Eric home to support his mother when the show finally says farewell to John in the wake of Drake Hogestyn’s death.
